Bluebyrd are an alt-folk duo heralding from the Midlands in the UK comprising songwriter Chris Rowley on guitars and vocals and Gareth Pask on keyboards. Bluebyrd’s sound is both original and accessible, playing well crafted songs that fall under the contemporary folk banner. Not a million miles away from the worlds of Nick Drake, Paul Simon, I Am Kloot, Richard Thompson, Fleet Foxes and The Lumineers, Bluebyrd’s songs explore love, fears, family, memory, modern-day paranoias and the ever changing social landscape. Festival and venue favourites, Bluebyrd have played headline sets as well as being support for chart acts Ian McNabb (Icicle Works) and chart toppers The Christians. Bluebyrd were nominated for several categories in The Black Country Music Awards and were runners up in Radio Wigwam's Acoustic/Folk Act category in 2023. Airwaves have also been alive with the sound of Bluebyrd with plays on over 50 local, international, online and national radio including Readifolk Radio, Blues and Roots, Stafford FM, BBC Stoke, BBC West Midlands. Described by Songwall as ‘Masters of creators of tunes that glue themselves into your consciousness’ and by FATEA magazine’s Mike Davies as ‘A hugely accomplished folk force’, Bluebyrd deliver their wears with passion and conviction. Whether up-tempo stompers or their gentler numbers BLUEBYRD play from the heart.

We were also chuffed to bits that we have been recognised by both community and national radio with extensive airplay across the country including on the BBC. Our live and studio work has also received nominations for the Radio Wigwam Awards and the Black Country Music Awards.

The live performance is what we relish and we have played at many prestigious festivals and venues across the Midlands and the North West including Alsager Music Festival, Leek Blues & Americana Festival, Audlem Festival, Percy's Cafe Bar, Claptrap the Venue, The Robin 2  amongst others.  We have also been chosen as  the support act for renowned US blues singer and guitarist Alvin Youngblood Heart and chart topping band The Christians when they come to The Robin 2 in 2022.

If you want us to play at your venue, in your garden or even in your kitchen we’d be happy to oblige! We can play short sets of 20 minutes right through to 1 1/2 hours. We can also supply a small PA and have public liability insurance.
